Very rarely do I write songs with any form of social commentary; I'm not a good enough lyricist to pull it off without sounding too preachy. Here's a song where I claim not to believe in immortality. Of course, I am writing this blog that will sit out in cyberspace for the foreseeable future, and I am also having a child soon, so I guess I want to believe in it just a little. This song turned out nicely. Link

One of my favorite places in Seattle is the Ballard Locks. The fish ladder is what helps the upstream-bound salmon from Puget Sound through the locks and to their source, to spawn and die. Link.

Despite the inferior recording (I think the laptop was in my lap, so as I played, the laptop moved around and the microphone made lots of noise), I really like this song. It's hard for me to make a song that isn't just a little bit ironic, but I did it with this one.

6-24-09 Back In My Hometown

It's funny - I don't get nostalgic for my hometown very often, but looking for a good photo of the Milwaukee skyline really made want to be there. Not to mention the fact that my family all live there.

Let's see - the first night that I was in town, I stepped in as a sub on my sister's bocce ball team. The league she's in plays on strips of grass between the parking lot of the bar that sponsors it, and the road. Accuracy is important.
