8-18-09 Westward Meditation

Another West song. Lots of nice harmonies to accompany Evan falling asleep before he gets scalped. Link.

Another heat wave song. Extra funky. In a white-boy sort of way. Listen up!

7-14-09 Diesel

Considering BP and all, this one's kind of timely.

Last year, "Awesome" performed at an event hosted by uber-talented art geniuses Sutton Beres Culler. It was meant to be a "West" workshop. It ended up being kind of a mess, but a fun one. The event was at a decommissioned gas station in Georgetown. The SBC boys have plans to turn it into a greenspace/artspace. It's an amazing project.

Right now, it's still the shell of a building. Their conversion plans have been stopped because it was discovered from underground testing that there is diesel sludge under the building. They may have uncovered a Superfund site! EPA testing commences this summer, and we'll see if it gets turned into a useful greenspace or not.

So this song was written to commemorate the event. I really like the weird harmonies.

4-29-09 Swine Flu

Hey, remember when we were all worried about this? Yeah, those were good times. This song is pretty much all garageband loops, but I dig the urgency. Link.

2-25-09 Hot Water Shoes

If I could make these, I'd be a millionaire.

Or I'd at least be revered by my sweetheart forever. She gets toe cramps in the middle of the night on a regular basis. She wears socks to bed. She uses a hot water bottle, but has to keep her feet in one (awkward) position to keep them warm. So my invention would essentially be hot water bottles you can wear on your feet. They'd probably look something like Crocs.

If anyone wants to sink some capital into this idea, let me know. Seriously, we're going to make millions. And this will be the jingle for our product.

(thank you, Garageband loops.)

1-10-09 Root Baby

The night of this song, Sarah and I watched a movie called Pan's Labyrinth. We were underwhelmed by the movie as a whole - it had the potential to be a great fantasy movie, but spent too much time trying to be a gripping character study of an insane warlord. In any case, we both liked the mandrake root baby that Ofelia nurtures under her bed to bring her mother back to health. So I wrote a song about it.
